Laser marking

Normally the plastic parts without laser additives are not or insufficient mark-able. The laser passes through the polymer without leaving any usable visible effect while with laser additive masterbatch the energy from the laser is held directly below the surface of the polymer, in the area which is to be marked.

Laser additives master-batch has been designed for the 1064 nm wavelength employed by normally used YAG Laser and are claimed to provide markings that are significantly darker without surface roughness. It increases sharpness of marked lines. It is accepted as the best way to permanently mark thermoplastics in some industries.

The color of the marking is influenced by the polymer while a Laser additive enhances the marking result. There is a minimum threshold concentration for starting a mark and going up to an optimum concentration because it is used as a catalyst for marking. The quantity should not be more than optimum; otherwise it does not help to improve the marking.

Most plastic can’t be marked economically and satisfactory results without the use of Laser-marking additives. By using the additive a wide variety of polymers in almost any color can be made laser mark-able and the expectations of high-quality, high-performance polymers will be fulfilled. It is eco friendly, durable, indelible and flexible which gives priority to laser marking and coding over other marking techniques.
